I. I like SP IB App. How can my school purchase a SP IB App full access license?

Scenario 1 - I’m a teacher/DP coordinator/principal/school’s decision maker
Licenses are exclusively available through ManageBac.

To purchase a full access license for US$800 (learn more), select one of the two options below:
Option 1 - contact your ManageBac sales or support representative

Option 2 - request the integration via your ManageBac settings
  1. Log in to ManageBac
  2. Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Integrations’
  3. Select ‘SMARTPREP’
  4. Click on ‘Request Integration’

The button will now read ‘Waiting for Integration’. A ManageBac representative will get in touch with you to verify whether you want to purchase full access or request a 14-day trial. Then ManageBac will open the integration for you.

Your school will be able to start using SP IB App as soon as you enable the app. The app is enabled once you click on the ‘Enable’ checkmark where you requested the integration (step 4 above).

Scenario 2 - I’m a student
Your school will need to purchase a full access license, so get in touch with your teacher/DP coordinator/principal/school’s decision maker, tell them about your experience with our app and ask them to contact their ManageBac representative.

II. What happens to my account when the free trial period ends on November 25, 2019?

Scenario 1 - your school has already purchased full access
Not to worry, you’ll be able to continue with everything just as before. You don't have to do a thing.

Scenario 2 - your school hasn’t purchased full access yet
Your account remains active and free, but you will no longer enjoy full access to the content.

We will save all your study progress, notes, folders, and SP Exercises so that you can pick up where you left off once your school subscribes to re-activate full access.

Your school will need to purchase a 1-year license for US$800 per year to store your full access. This will give all teachers and all students full access to all SP subjects. Licenses are exclusively available through ManageBac.

III. I don’t know whether my school has already purchased full access. How can I check?

Your ManageBac representative will assist you 24 hours a day, Monday through Friday - via phone and email.

IV. I didn’t get the chance to trial SP IB App for free. Can I request a free trial after
November 25, 2019?

Yes, you can. We make available 14-day trials that automatically let all your DP/CP school members experience the full suite of subjects and features.

To request a 14-day trial, select one of the two options below:

ManageBac integration

1. I already have a ManageBac account. How can I access SMARTPREP IB App for free?

All first-time users will automatically receive a free 3-day trial that lets them experience the full suite of subjects and features. To continue using the app after the trial ends, your school will need to purchase a full access license. Licenses are exclusively available through ManageBac, so please get in touch with your ManageBac sales or support representative. Accessing the app is super easy because our integration with ManageBac is seamless, making use of a single sign-on (SSO).
  1. Go to the SP IB App log in page (app.smart-prep.com/login) > click on the ‘Login with ManageBac’ button
  2. Log in with your ManageBac credentials > authorize SMARTPREP to use your ManageBac account
  3. Now you will automatically be transferred back to SP IB App. You’re ready to go!
All ManageBac users - students and teachers - can access SP IB App even if it is not yet enabled by the school’s coordinator/ManageBac administrator.

2. I’m a teacher and I want to use SMARTPREP Exercise. Is there any extra step involved to start using this feature in SP IB App?

To fully benefit from this functionality, there are three prerequisites:
  1. SP IB App needs to be purchased and enabled. Once purchased, please ask your school’s coordinator/ManageBac administrator to enable SP IB App in their ManageBac settings.
  2. You need to use your ManageBac account on SP IB App.
  3. Your students need to use their ManageBac account on SP IB App.

3. I’m our school’s coordinator/ManageBac administrator. How do I enable SP IB App?

SP IB App needs to be purchased by your school in order for it to be enabled. To enable SP IB App, follow the steps below:
  1. Log in to ManageBac
  2. Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Integrations’
  3. Select ‘SMARTPREP’
  4. Click on the ‘Enable’ checkmark
SP IB App is now enabled, allowing your teachers and students to benefit from SP Exercise.

4. I enabled SP IB App. How long will it take for SP Exercise to work?

Depending on how large your school is, it will take 2 hours for all data to be synced with SMARTPREP. This data sync is necessary so that
  1. SP Exercises created for a particular class are only pushed to the members of that class.
  2. all your students and teachers automatically have access to SP IB App.

5. My school’s data was updated after the first data sync with SMARTPREP (for example because a new student has joined a class). How long will it take for the new student to have access to SP Exercises of that class?

Our data is updated once every 2 hours, meaning it will take a maximum of 2 hours for that new student to have access to all SP Exercises of the class.

6. What ManageBac data is shared with SMARTPREP?

We only receive relevant data that lets us give you a seamless user experience. This data is limited to the profile of your DP/CP school members, their parents, and their class memberships.

By the way, we know your school’s data is private – and that’s how we treat it. We are 100% GDPR compliant.

7. I already used SP IB App before the ManageBac integration. How can I access the app with my ManageBac account while not losing the study progress on my old SP account?

In any case, we will support you in protecting the study progress saved on your old SP account.

Scenario 1 - I’m using the same email address for my SP and ManageBac account
If the email address you used for your SP account is the same that you use for ManageBac, your accounts will be merged automatically upon logging in to SP IB App with your ManageBac credentials/SP IB App being enabled by your school. There is nothing you need to do!

Scenario 2 - I’m using different email addresses for my SP and ManageBac account. SP IB App was not yet enabled by my school. I did not yet log in to SP IB App with my ManageBac credentials.
To merge your accounts, follow the steps below:
  1. Go to the SP IB App log in page (app.smart-prep.com/login) > click on the ‘Log in with SMARTPREP’ button
  2. Log in with your SP credentials
  3. Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Account & Profile’
  4. Click on the ‘Merge account with ‘ManageBac’ button
  5. An overlay will appear, informing you about what will happen with your user data > click on ‘Yes’ to merge accounts.
  6. You will automatically be redirected to the ManageBac log in page
  7. Log in with your ManageBac credentials > authorize SMARTPREP to use your ManageBac account
  8. Now you will automatically be transferred back to SP IB App. You’re accounts are merged!

Scenario 3 - I’m using different email addresses for my SP and ManageBac account. SP IB App was not yet enabled by my school. I already logged in to SP IB App with my ManageBac credentials.
Please contact SMARTPREP directly at info@smart-prep.com. We’ll support you in transferring the study progress from your old to your new account.

Scenario 4 - I’m using different email addresses for my SP and ManageBac account. SP IB App was already enabled by my school.

8. I don’t have a ManageBac account. Can I still use SP IB App?

Although full access licenses are now exclusively available through ManageBac, we give everyone the opportunity to start enjoying SP IB App for a limited time. We give you the following three options:
  1. 3-day trial by making an SP account
    All first-time users will automatically receive a free 3-day trial that lets them experience the full suite of subjects and features.
  2. 30-day trial by purchasing SP IB Flash Cards - the print publications
    If you purchase any of our IB Flash Cards, you will automatically receive a 30 day free and full access to SP IB App. A voucher code will be sent to the email you used in our online shop, letting you start studying the second you place an order with us.
  3. Contact SMARTPREP for a voucher

After each of the above trials expire, your account remains active and free, but you will no longer enjoy full access to the content.

10. How do I permanently log out of SP IB App when using my ManageBac account?

To permanently log out of the app until you log in again, please log out via the ‘ManageBac Accounts Portal’.

Basics

1. Which devices can I use SP IB App on?

You can access SP IB App with all mobile, tablet, and computer devices. SP IB App is a web app that is accessed via your web browser. The design is responsive, which means that the user interface automatically adapts to the screen size of your device, displaying the same interactive features and content.

2. I’m experiencing system glitches with SP IB App. What do I do?

SP IB App is compatible with the latest browser releases. Make sure you have downloaded the version of your browser that we support.

3. I’ve created an account on SP IB App and didn’t receive a verification email. What do I do?

Please check your spam folder. If you can’t find the verification email in your spam folder, please try registering again. If you continue to encounter issues, please contact us at info@smart-prep.com.

Connection

1. Do I need to be connected to the internet to use SP IB App?

Yes. In the current version of SP IB App, studying your flash cards requires you to have an internet connection. However, a download functionality is currently being worked on, which will enable you to study offline.

2. How much mobile data does SP IB App use while I'm studying?

All content in SP IB App was created to reduce mobile data usage to a bare minimum. Here are the facts: the average card has a size of 57 KB - this means studying 100 cards will use up 5.7 MB of your data volume. That is roughly the same amount as is required to play a song from your favorite streaming site.

1. Does SP IB App cover all of the content I need to know for the IB Diploma Programme?

SP IB App provides full coverage of six IB DP subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, ES&S, Mathematics and Economics (more in development). There are thousands of questions and answers developed by subject experts, and maximum flexibility whether you have two years to study or two months to revise. Due to the nature of the small format and the consolidated content, SP IB App is designed to complement your traditional learning effort.

2. How does SP IB App assess my studying progress?

We at SP strongly believe in the philosophy of self-assessment to promote learning. This is why we’ve included a correct and incorrect button that lets you assess whether your response to the question on a card was correct or incorrect. This drives your learning log and feeds the statistics on how you perform.

The % Studied chart shows how much percent of the content was self-assessed, within the entire subject, a specific topic, or even sub-topics.

The % Correct chart shows how much percent of the answers you gave were self-assessed as being correct.

3. Where can I find the publication data (e.g. author, edition number, etc.) of the subjects I’m using in SP IB App?

Click on the info icon that is located in the top right corner in 'Topics'.

4. I've noticed 'Coming soon' screens for several functionalities. When will these launch?

SP IB App is a personal tutor in your pocket. This is why additional functionalities will be added soon, for example ‘Shuffle’ and ‘Smart Shuffle’.

5. Where can I get SP IB Flash Cards - the print publications?
